TIỂU SỬ

Thiền sư Oánh Sơn là Tổ khai sơn chùa Tổng Trì núi Chư Nhạc, là cháu nối pháp đời thứ tư của Thiền sư Đạo Nguyên khai Tổ tông Tào Động ở Nhật Bản. Sư tục danh là Thiệu Cẩn, họ Đằng Nguyên, hiệu Oánh Sơn, sanh ngày mùng 8 tháng 10 niên hiệu Văn Vĩnh thứ năm. Thuở nhỏ, Sư có tư cách lạ thường, lớn lên không thích ở trần tục. Năm mười ba tuổi, Sư xuất gia với Hòa thượng Cô Vân chùa Vĩnh Bình. Năm ấy, Hòa thượng Cô Vân khuyên Sư y chỉ với Thiền sư Triệt Thông Nghĩa Giới. Năm 18 tuổi, Sư bắt đầu đi du phương, trước nương học với Thiền sư Tịch Viên, kế tham học với các ngài Bảo Giác chùa Vạn Thọ, Huệ Hiểu chùa Bạch Vân v.v... sau học tông Thiên Thai với ngài Duệ Sơn, tham cứu diệu chỉ thiền môn với Quốc sư Pháp Đăng, song Sư vẫn chưa thấy đủ, Sư trở về hầu hạ Thiền sư Nghĩa Giới, ngày đêm tham vấn không biết mệt mỏi. Một hôm Thiền sư Nghĩa Giới thượng đường nói câu “Bình thường tâm thị đạo”, nghe qua Sư hoát nhiên triệt ngộ, lúc ấy hai mươi bảy tuổi. Năm sau, Sư vào thất đắc pháp nơi Thiền sư Nghĩa Giới.

Từ đây về sau, Sư chuyên cần hóa đạo, khai sáng chùa Thành Mãn ở A Ba, chùa Tổng Trì, chùa Vĩnh Quang ở Năng Đăng (Đông Kinh), chùa Tịnh Trụ ở Gia Hạ. Sau Sư trụ trì chùa Đại Thừa ở Gia Hạ, chấn hưng tông phong. Niên hiệu Nguyên Hưởng năm đầu vào mùa thu, Đề Hồ Thiên Hoàng hâm mộ danh đức của Sư, xin giải mười điều nghi vấn, Sư tấu đáp rành rẽ, vua rất đẹp ý ban thưởng tử y.

Tháng 9, vua sắc tứ ba chữ lớn Tổng Trì Tự và đặc thăng Sư Nhất Đẳng Tăng Cang tại chùa Đại Quan.

Hai năm sau, Sư vâng lệnh vua tổ chức đạo tràng xuất thế cho tông Tào Động, được vua ban thưởng tử y. Sư truyền pháp tịch cho môn đệ là Nga Sơn Thiệu Thạc, rồi lui về chùa Vĩnh Quang. Tìm mua: Tọa Thiền Dụng Tâm Ký TiKi Lazada Shopee

Niên hiệu Chánh Trung năm thứ hai vào tháng 8, Sư có chút bệnh. Ngày 15, Sư sai thị giả tập họp đồ chúng để dặn bảo. Dặn bảo xong, Sư cầm viết biên bài kệ rồi ngồi kiết già thị tịch. Kệ rằng:

Tự canh tự chủng nhàn điền địa,

Kỷ độ mại lai, mãi khứ tân,

Vô hạn linh miêu phiền mậu xứ,

Pháp đường thượng kiến sáp thiêu nhân.

Dịch:

Mảnh đất an nhàn tự gieo trồng,

Buôn qua bán lại biết bao lần,

Mầm linh nảy nở khôn cùng tận,

Cày cấy vẫn còn trên pháp đường.

Sư thọ năm mươi tám tuổi, được bốn mươi sáu tuổi đạo, linh cốt chia bốn chùa Đại Thừa, Vĩnh Quang, Tịnh Trụ, Tổng Trì xây tháp thờ phụng.

Đệ tử nối pháp của Sư là Minh Phong, Nga Sơn, Vô Nhai, Khổn Am, Cô Phong, Trân Sơn v.v...

Ngoài tác phẩm Tọa Thiền Dụng Tâm Ký, Sư còn trước tác Truyền Quang Lục, Oánh Sơn Thanh Quy, Tam Căn Tọa Thiền Thuyết, Tín Tâm Minh Niêm Đề v.v...

Về sau, Thôn Thượng Thiên Hoàng khen ngợi công lao Sư, ban hiệu “Phật Tử Thiền sư”, Đào Viên Thiên Hoàng ban hiệu “Hoằng Đức Viên Minh Quốc sư”.
